Handmade ceramics and artisan textiles from Newcastle, Australia
When I close my eyes at night, colours fill my mind. I cannot help but make things.
I’m Leah, the maker behind Colour Clouds — a Newcastle-based artist drawn to colour, texture and the simple joy of creating with my hands.
My work has always been about colour and transformation — how dye moves through fabric, how glaze melts across clay, how each unpredictable process leaves its own magic behind.
From fabric to clay
Colour Clouds began with a love of ice-dyed and hand-dyed textiles, turning everyday fabrics into vibrant, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Over time, my creative focus has shifted toward ceramics, where I could bring the same painterly approach to form, glaze and surface.
Today, my studio practice centres on hand-built ceramics — small dishes, bowls, platters and vessels that celebrate movement, imperfection and the beauty of handmade work.
Each piece is individually crafted, glazed by hand, and infused with the dreamy colours that inspired the name Colour Clouds.
A love of process
Every object I make is a small exploration in colour — from soft, cloud-like whites to bold washes of glaze.
No two pieces are ever the same, and that’s exactly how I like it.
My ceramics are designed to be used, loved and lived with — bringing art into everyday rituals like dinner with friends.
